New Year’s Day on Whitehaven Beach
January 6, 2012
Hayman’s luxury launch, Sun Eagle, departed for a leisurely cruise to Whitehaven Beach on New Year’s Day.
The cruise through the Whitsundays Passage was spectacular. The lush green islands set against the sparkling blue Coral Sea was a sight to behold.
Guests were served a range of scrumptious canapés, from sushi to smoked salman sandwiches.
The launch circled Whitsunday Island, where Whitehaven Beach is located, before letting guests explore the region’s largest island for themselves.
The seven kilometre beach is said to have the whitest sand in the world. The sand is 98% silica, which is what gives it the bright white colour.
It’s no wonder this beach has been voted one of the best in Australia. Everything about it is perfect. The sand seemed to stretch on forever and the turquoise water was wonderfully warm and clear.
The return journey was equally beautiful and Hayman looked spectacular with the sun setting behind the hills as the launch pulled into to shore. This has to be the perfect end to the first day of the year.
