Margarita Massage- A Recipe for Relaxation
September 23, 2011September is Tequila Month here at Hayman and our creative Spa Therapists have discovered an unlikely use for tequila.
Hayman’s Margarita Massage combines tequila, citrus and salt to create a relaxing and refreshing body treatment.
Hayman Spa isn’t using any ordinary tequila either; they use Patron Silver, a top shelf tequila made from 100% blue agave.
“People are often surprised to discover that tequila can benefit your skin. It’s made from Agave plants which contain anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that help detoxify and renew skin, ” says Hayman Spa Therapist Cara Jefferies.
Cara begins the treatment with a Vichy shower, which is a bath-like bed. She exfoliates the skin with a margarita scrub, a combination of salt, essential lime oil, Patron Tequila and a squeeze of fresh lemon.
“Salt is a great exfoliant while lemon is a natural enzyme that eats away at dead skin…Lime is actually a mood enhancer too; it can boost morale and relieve anxiety,” Cara explains.
The therapist then removes the exfoliant in the Vichy shower in preparation for the tequila massage in one of the spa’s treatment rooms.
“Exfoliation under the Vichy shower warms the body up, making it easier for it to absorb the minerals during the massage,” she claims.
Cara uses a mixture of sunflower oil, essential lime oil and tequila for the massage. The massage is firm but the smell of lime and tequila is energising.
This Margarita is one delicious cocktail that won’t leave you with a hangover.
